Classical, Hebrew, and Biblical Scholarship: Identity and Reception

On the 75th anniversary of Helmantica: Journal of Classical and Hebrew Philology (1950-2025), we wish to commemorate this event by publishing a special issue open to scholars of classical, Hebrew, and biblical scholarship. It is intended to serve as a stop along the path taken over these years to rethink the identity and essence of these studies, as well as their reception throughout history.
We hope that participants will consider this approach, which links the identities of classical and Hebrew scholarship with their reception. We understand it as a continuum called tradition (classical, Hebrew, and biblical), which is reflected in ancient and modern receptions of both authors and literary works and genres. This is, in fact, the studia humanitatis that Helmantica has championed, and we hope that, with everyone's contribution, it will continue to do so.
