La Bruja Ericto y Sexto Pompeyo relectura de un acto de necromancia en la Farsalia de Lucano
Main Article Content
In the present contribution we analyze an episode of the sixth
book of Lucan’s Pharsalia, where a necromantic act is described. We
pay attention to the role played by Sextus Pompeius, Pompeius
Magnus’s son, as well as to the depiction of him as a literary and
historiographic archetype. Our aim is to revisit this famous character and synthetize precedent readings in order to expose our own
interpretation. By doing so, we offer an actualized critical reading
upon the basis of two matters: Sextus’s choice as the main character
of the scene and the possible motivations of the author for this
choice.
