Cyprian of Carthage the persecution of decius and the problem of the apostates

Cyprian of Carthage and also Eusebius of Cesarea captures the consequences of Decius’s edict in their writtings, forcing all the Roman Empire citizens to sacrifice their roman deity. This order could pull a Christian group to respect this laws and, consequently, to apostate of their religion, in fact or with some certificates (libelli), fraudulently gotten. Therfore, it was necessary to find a solution for the people who have repudiated their religious practices to be readmited in their
Christian communities.
