Abstract

The education of interiority is a decisive dimension of the integral formation of the person, especially in a cultural context marked by exteriority, fragmentation and the weakening of meaning. The aim of this article is to examine the contributions of Karol Wojtyla-John Paul II and Fernando Rielo to the understanding and education of inner life, identifying their main anthropological, ethical and pedagogical convergences. The study follows a theoretical-comparative approach, based on the analysis of a corpus of primary works by both authors and recent secondary literature on personalism, mystical anthropology and education. The methodological procedure consists of defining the central categories of each proposal –interiority, freedom, truth, love, virtue, ecstasy, responsibility and transcendence– and comparing them in order to establish shared assumptions, distinctive nuances and specific contributions. The results show that both authors conceive interiority as a dynamic space of encounter with God, self-knowledge and relational openness, rather than as an introspective withdrawal. They also agree that educating interiority requires guiding affective energies, freedom and action towards the good, truth and love through virtue and self-giving. This comparison clarifies the formative value of interior life for contemporary educational practice today. The article concludes La educación de la interioridad: convergencias entre Karol Wojtyla y Fernando Rielo 41 Familia 64 (2026) 39-56, ISSN: 1130-8893 EISSN: 2660-9525 that Wojtyla’s and Rielo’s proposals provide a solid foundation for a pedagogy of interiority centred on personal unity, transcendence, affective maturation and commitment to others.
