Abstract

This paper takes into consideration the Kantian distinction between the scholastic concept of philosophy or school concept and the cosmic concept of philosophy. Of philosophy in the cosmic sense, it emphasizes the idea of philosophical knowledge as a compass or instance of meaning with respect to other knowledge, so that these are oriented towards the development of the moral ends or moral destiny of humanity. In this line, the author considers that the Kantian concept of philosophy in a cosmic sense would link, on the one hand, with the sapiential function that tradition assigns to metaphysics and, on the other hand, and at the same time, with those lines and authors of contemporary philosophy who criticize scientism and demand the need for an interaction between the positive sciences and philosophy; for example, among others, Husserl and Habermas
