The Thesisi of “post-secularization” in light of Jürgen Habermas’s intellectual career

The present work reconstructs argumentatively the meaning of “post-secular citizenship” in light of Jürgen Habermas’s intellectual career and bibliographic production. Firstly, we offer a chronological framework of Habermas's intellectual path according to the attention paid to the issue of religion in each of the fundamental phases. On the basis of this periodization and comprehensive overview, we are able to apprehend the intra-theoretical meaning of postsecularization, in its normative sense, understanding to which extent this
thesis constitutes a turn in his intellectual career. Afterwards, we expose critically the meaning of his latest positions regarding the presence of religion in the public sphere. Lastly, we delve into the idea of the translation of religious contents as proposal for a “non-destructive secularization” and as a process of mutual learning for the whole of citizenship
