The scientific understanding of the word and an ecological vision focused on the life of the planet currently raise the permanent question about God’s relationship with his creation. Likewise, the spirituality that encourages contemporary ecology tends to present the world as a space of spiritual experience. From a theological point of view, how can we think that the world is a place of encounter with God? Can God act in the world? How He acts? What vision of reality is there in the background?

These questions have been addressed mainly in the dialogue between science and faith, taking shape in the debate on creation and evolution. It is probably a context that has already given what it could give and some aspects have been exhausted. Can the theme of creation and God’s intervention in the world and in history be thought of in another way? This is a topic of study that we propose for a monograph in the journal Salmanticensis. It affects various aspects, so it has a multidisciplinary character. The cosmology of natural sciences and philosophy, christology, anthropology and sacramentology, among other, are areas of research that can provide new elements to think about the relationship between God and creation.

We invite colleagues to submit research articles that can help delve deeper into some of these aspects, from various perspectives, in order to enrich theological knowledge and reflection on the understanding of creation.

ARTICLES TO REMEMBER (2024, May)

From Salmanticensis journal, we have compiled these two very different articles that we believe have a special interest, written by two authors of recognized prestige.

The theologian Santiago del Cura Elena addresses a topic of maximum ecclesial actuality. The increase in the number of ordinations of deacons and the question of the diaconate ordination of women has made the diaconate an issue that must be studied in depth from magisterial and theological criteria.

For his part, Professor Florentino García Martínez, an expert on the Dead Sea Scrolls, addresses the theme of the “new covenant” in a movement of Judaism present at the time in which Jesus lived, which helps to know something important for primitive Christianity.
