							Abstract

Among the different relevant spaces of San Esteban de Salamanca, the Chapel of the Relics is positioned as the ideal practical and symbolic enclosure of the temple. In this work, a journey is proposed from its origins in the foundation of the chapel of Santo Domingo in the Medieval Church, to its configuration as a conventual treasure and reliquary during the works undertaken in the 16th Century, without ever losing its funerary interest given its features. From the analysis of the different testimonies of its functions, hearings, changes in practices and the state in which the architectural image is preserved, a comprehensive reading of this chapel is proposed.
