Abstract

Public education in Chile has undergone a profound transformation since the military dictatorship, calling into question its public nature and increasingly promoting market-oriented policies. Throughout our study, we aim to analyze the public/private relationship in Chilean secondary education from a multidimensional perspective, considering various aspects. Based on a literature review, different forms of endogenous privatization are identified, which undermine the collective and democratic purpose of public education. Therefore, a critical re-examination is proposed in order to reclaim the social, democratic, and equitable function of education.
