Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and derived technologies are generating a great deal of change in our world. Specialized studies and publications show the extent to which Artificial Intelligence technologies will have numerous implications that will profoundly and disruptively change our society. In the specific case of the European Union, in 2018, 24 EU member countries (plus Norway) signed the Declaration of Cooperation on Artificial Intelligence in which they committed to working together to stimulate the adoption of AI in Europe. In this article, we refer to some European examples related to the potential of AI in public management and present arguments about why AI for public use is a theoretical research field without the capacity to exert, at present, the necessary impact on future designs for public administration
