Celia Deane-Drummond. Keys for a Theological Response to Transhumanism

Abstract

Celia Deane-Drummond offers us the keys for a theological response to transhu-manism. Keys that we can frame in two themes of her theology: the relationship between science and theology as traveling companions, and re-imaging the Divine Image in a way that, affirming the uniqueness of human beings and their relationship with God, places them within the framework of a shared evolution. From there, Deane-Drummond presents the three keys to the theological response to transhumanism: the valorisation of the bodily reality of the human being, its relationship with the rest of living beings in union with its unique character, and that the future that transhumanism foresees is not inevitable, human beings are agents of their own destiny.
