Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the adherence to the Mediterranean diet of 140 boys and girls aged between 4 and 5 years from the city of
Seville, Spain. The research focuses on 3 specific variables: Body Mass Index, age and gender. For data collection, the KIDMED questionnaire and anthropometric measurements of the Body Mass Index were used. For data analysis, the statistical program SPSS version 24.0 was used. The results of the KIDMED questionnaire do not show significant differences between boys and girls, although they are found according to age, with younger schoolchildren having better adherence to the Mediterranean diet. In relation to the Body Mass Index, most of the subjects (77.14%) have a normal weight nutritional status, that is, they present a good weight status.
