Abstract

On 4 February 2021, Federico Rafael Aznar Gil died in Zaragoza, at the age of 67, and was buried the following day in his hometown of La Almunia de Doña Godina (Zaragoza). His health had been failing for just over three years and, having retired at the end of 2018 as a professor in the Faculty of Canon Law at the Pontifical University of Salamanca, he had already been in retirement for more than three years.
Pontifical University of Salamanca, he was residing in the priestly house of his diocese, Zaragoza, where he continued to collaborate pastorally in the parish of Nuestra Señora del Portillo and to hold the posts of Promoter of Justice and Defender of the bond of the Interdiocesan Court of Second Instance of Zaragoza, while also preparing some historical work, as his intention was to continue to be useful to the Church. This was the culmination of a life full of activity in the field of canon law, which he carried out intensely for four decades.
