Abstract
The project for the reform of the penal Canon law contained in the CIC, announced in 2010 by the PCTL, it gave years later one more step by elaborating a
second draft. The comparison with the first one lends itself to point out and to evaluate relevant aspects, background and detail that are observed in the process in matters such as accountability, criminal types, penalties, penal precept, penal process and the purposes of canon penalties. Broadly speaking, a hardening of the sanctioning law of the Church is observed, as well as the incidence of the special rules for crimes reserved for the CDF. The purpose has been to respond to several problems that have been pointed out in CIC, and there would be still some pending to attend.
