Abstract
For the management of diocesan affairs, the bishop has since old counted clerics who have assisted him in this task. Despite not being absolutely identical the organization of the different dioceses, if we can find many elements common to all of them. This article aims to take a brief tour of the history of the Spanish dioceses to see what their internal organization was, from the late Middle Ages to 1851 when a single common regulation was imposed for all bishoprics subject to the Spanish government.
