Parental phubbing and its relationship with anxiety, depression and addictions in adolescents a systematic review
Main Article Content
Introduction: Well-established attachment in parent-child relationships functions as a protective factor for psychological well-being during adolescence. New technologies affect family relationships, including negative behaviors such as parental phubbing, where parents ignore their children in favor of electronic devices. Objective: To demonstrate the relationship between parental phubbing and anxiety, depression and addictions in adolescents. Methodology: Systematic searches were performed following the guidelines of the PRISMA 2020 statement in the PubMed and ProQuest databases, known for their high scientific relevance. Studies published between 2013 and 2023 of experimental, quasi-experimental or observational type, containing quantitative psychometric test results, were selected. Articles or trials without primary data, adult population or singlecase studies were excluded. Results: Of the 236 papers found, 45 studies were critically reviewed, and 15 investigations were included in the review. All obtained significant results on the association between parental phubbing and anxiety, depression and addictions in adolescents. Conclusions: Parental phubbing contributes to the prevalence of various mental pathologies in the child and adolescent population. However, it is important to be cautious in extrapolating the results because most of the studies come from the following sources
