Five new medieval synods of Tarragona until now unknown

Abstract

This short article gives an account of the discovery of five medieval synods from the diocese of Tarragona hitherto unknown. The discovery was on the occasion of the research work carried out for the elaboration of what will be the vol. XV of the Synodicon hispanum, a work that aims to publish the synods of the Iberian Peninsula, held between the IV Council of Lateran 1215 and Council of Trent 1563. It exposes the process that led to its discovery, as well as the impact and meaning of it. With this find the number of known synods of the diocese of Tarragona increases from 11 to 16.
