Abstract

The passing of late Saturnino Álvarez Turienzo marked the disappearance of the last representative of an era in the Pontifical University of Salamanca. This paper wishes to approach his academic personality and contextualize his key role in the reshaping of the Faculty of Philosophy under very unfavourable circumstances. He gave it all the tools he could, without being able to avoid its weaknesses. Cuadernos salmantinos de Filosofría is one of his most enduring creations.
