Abstract

The purpose of this short study is to present some contributions of the work Synodicon hispanum to different knowledge of different orders. The study contains a proem, which shows what the diocesan synods are, what Synodicon hispanum is, how, when and where it started, and the importance of this work. Then in the study there are seven sections, the first deals with the coincidences and differences between the Synodicum hispanum and the Synodal Collection of the Pontifical University of Salamanca. Next some important contributions of the Synodicum hispanum to the bibliofilia are mentioned. Below, the holidays and the celebration of the feasts of the saints are enumerated, and the teaching of Christian doctrine in synods and the obligation for children to learn read and write are commented. And because the synods are especially related in order to correct defects, two very serious abuses are highlighted by the synods, concluding with a brief critical exposition of the medieval doctrine and the synods about the sacraments, with special reference to baptism and the sacrament of order. This work ends with a summary and a conclusion.
