REFLECTIONS ON THE PURPOSE OF THE CANONS IN THE CHURCH

Abstract

The author reflects on old and new questions of canonistics such as the
nature and foundation of Canon Law and its purpose in the Church and society, the peculiarities of ecclesial law compared to secular law, the concept of ecclesial common good, the fundamental rights of the faithful, the need for a correct exercise of ecclesial potestas so as not to discredit the law in the Church, etc
