It proposes to seek in the “somatology” of this book an answer to the problem posed by von Rad. The article takes as its starting point three human experiences, very present in the Song, deeply rooted in the body, with which the meaning of the creative gesture unfolds: “awakening”, “dwelling” and “begetting”.
Carlos Granados Copyright (c) 2025 https://revistas.upsa.es/index.php/salmanticensis/article/view/1599 Wed, 28 May 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Creation as symbolic Mediation in the God-Man relationship https://revistas.upsa.es/index.php/salmanticensis/article/view/1600
In the God-man relationship in the present eon, the “sacramental principle” is required, that is, the economy of revelation and salvation designed by God to establish a salutary communication between the Creator and the creature, using the resources that are accessible to the creature. Following the intuitions of Cardinal J.H. Newman, it is possible to speak of a sacramentality of history. With the proposals of Ch. Theobald and L.-M. Chauvet, we can talk about a sacramentality of life or a sacramental reexamining of Christian existence. Can we, perhaps, talk of the “sacramentality of the world”? This is the
problem that will be the subject of this essay. Appealing to the understanding of a “diffuse sacramentality”, that is, to apply the notion of the sacramental to realities beyond the septenary ritual, we can propose that the world-cosmos is in truth a symbolic mediation that makes the communication-communion of Man-creatures with the God-creator possible.

Ramón Obdulio Lara Copyright (c) 2025 https://revistas.upsa.es/index.php/salmanticensis/article/view/1600 Wed, 28 May 2025 00:00:00 +0000 The Mystery of Creation and the Sacramental Logic of Salvation as Vicarious Representation in the Thought of Karl Heinz Menke https://revistas.upsa.es/index.php/salmanticensis/article/view/1601
Creation and salvation constitute two moments of a single salvific design of God for human being. How to think about their relationship? The German theologian K. -H. Menke offers us from his theological paradigm a way of understanding the relationship between the two moments in the economy of the mystery of salvation from the categories of vicarious representation and sacramentality.
Raúl Orozco Ruano Copyright (c) 2025 https://revistas.upsa.es/index.php/salmanticensis/article/view/1601 Wed, 28 May 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Divine Sophia https://revistas.upsa.es/index.php/salmanticensis/article/view/1602
Divine Wisdom is presented by Sergius Boulgakov, an Orthodox theologian of the
first half of the 20th century, as a fundamental category of Christian creation theology. Starting from biblical references and after a solid philosophical-theological development, in Wisdom we find the balance between some aspects of the worldview that are paradoxical and therefore in tension and always open to the deepening that discerns the Mystery of God's plan. We refer to the divine creative activity and the personal Trinitarian perspective of the Creator, the differentiated but not incommunicable reality between Creator and creature, the presence and intervention of God in the world without altering the ontology of the created order and its historical freedom, the hope and realisation of the ultimate destiny of the world in God without this entailing the annihilation or end of created reality. These are complex questions to which sophiology responds with a serious and interesting discourse, which leads to a critical position that opens up, in turn, perspectives for research

Tomczyk Pawel Copyright (c) 2025 https://revistas.upsa.es/index.php/salmanticensis/article/view/1603 Wed, 28 May 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Earth Stewardship https://revistas.upsa.es/index.php/salmanticensis/article/view/1604
The starting point of this paper is the ecological crisis. Faced with this crisis, human beings have come up with different solutions, which imply a rethinking of the role of technology in our relationship with the environment. Among them, in this paper, three
main solutions are highlighted: the techno-fix, the critique of technocracy (and the return to a pre-technological era), and Earth Stewardship. This latter is, in my opinion, the approach that is most in line with the doctrine of the Catholic Church in recent years and simultaneously implies the love for the “common home” (oikophilia) and the other human
beings (philanthropy). These two aspects are the ontological framework of Earth Stewardship. This approach implies, from an ethical standpoint, the development of a sense of responsibility towards both the other living beings and the human beings
themselves (i.e., human ecology). In this sense, I argue that the focal point of this approach
is the human being and not the environment: our focus must be our dwelling on Earth,
which recalls fruitful relationships with the environment –i.e., the possibility of flourishing
for both the human being and the other living beings
Luca Valera Copyright (c) 2025 https://revistas.upsa.es/index.php/salmanticensis/article/view/1604 Wed, 28 May 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Orthodox Ecotheology and Liturgical Anthropocentrism https://revistas.upsa.es/index.php/salmanticensis/article/view/1605
The article provides a panoramic and concise overview of Orthodox ecotheology, drawing primarily from its development in English language texts. This approach takes advantage of the fact that the main authors, despite having different native languages, write in english. In addition to presenting the most prominent and distinctive elements of the Orthodox tradition in relation to Western Christianity—particularly Catholicism—the text also seeks to establish connections between both traditions, highlighting points of convergence and friction. Among the key distinctive characteristics that structure Orthodox
ecotheology—such as the leadership of the hierarchy, the vision of Creation, the role of the human being, sacramentality and the centrality of liturgy, and an emphasis on asceticism and the formation of an ethos—the originality of “liturgical anthropocentrism” stands out as a crucial aspect. Indeed, while acknowledging the significance of the human being among creatures, the Orthodox tradition subordinates this importance to humanity’s relationship with God, and, through Him, with the rest of creation. The article concludes by identifying the main strengths of Orthodox ecotheology that could serve mutual enrichment between both traditions. It also explores what Catholic ecotheology, in its current state, could contribute to Orthodox ecotheology.

Cristian Borgoño Copyright (c) 2025 https://revistas.upsa.es/index.php/salmanticensis/article/view/1605 Wed, 28 May 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Harry Y.
